		<description>Brenda,

The reality is that elected officials from all walks of life are struggling to fund projects and this &quot;Amazon Tax&quot; on its face looks like an easy way for them to raise tax revenue.

The problem with this legislation is that it&#039;s very easy to avoid (internet sales tax) since advertisers can simply drop affiliates from the State in question and then the law will not apply to them.

The result is every one loses...that&#039;s why I argue that this legislation is desperate and short-sighted.

I hope that your legislature in WI does not waste their time and pass this legislation since it will ultimately result in lost jobs and lost income tax.

<description>As a resident of WI, I am very fearful of this coming to our state. We always seem to be behind the times, but when our legislatures figure out their head from the hole in their butt, they always seem to nail their constituents 10 times harder than everyone else.

Does anyone feel like we are just being taxed more and more and our legislatures aren&#039;t even listening to us? What ever happened no taxation without representation?

This whole thing just absolutely sickens me.

		<description>Mark,

Thanks for your comments!

Your success story in North Carolina is a perfect example of why legislators in NC must take a step back and look at the actual effect of an Amazon Tax.

		<description>Kris -

Being a NC resident and relying 75% on affiliate income for our household, we are worried about this as well.

I have been in web development for 15 years and this is not the first (or likely, last) time that individual states have tried to get a piece of revenue from online sales.

Its a slippery slope... As individual states make their own laws around this, the cost to maintain is just going to get overwhelming for smaller companies to keep up with, which is why they drop affiliates or restrict sales in certain states.

I know you used Amazon as an example, but they are just one small cog in ecommerce. There are thousands of ecommerce businesses in every state of the US that will lose over this. You got it on the spot... When businesses stop allowing sales due to useless laws, everyone loses and the effect of the intended tax results in net loss all around.

The solution, whether I agree or not, is to have a single rate internet sales tax that is based on something similar to the voting delegates in each state. Everyone pays into one tax fund, then it is dispersed based on delegates or some other common factor.

In the end, if they continue to segment the taxes like the Amazon tax, its only going to worsen the situation.
