What an unbelievable conference! I’ve been hearing rumors that there are over 5,000 people here – it sure seems it by the turnout to my presentation yesterday and the fact there were about 6 parties going on simultaneously (I could only be at one at a time
) and everyone was packed and many were running out of alcohol.
Day 1 is over – Day 2 officially kicked off with the opening of the exhibit hall about 18 minutes ago. Pepperjam Network is exhibiting If you are here please stop by and say hello – I intend to be in the booth most of today and tomorrow.
I moderated a panel yesterday called “Affiliate Marketing in 2009.” My panelists included Brad Wilson from Brad’s Deals (www.bradsdeals.com), Gary Ackerman from M3 Mobile (www.m3mobile.com/), Chris Hedgecock from ZeroPaid (www.zeropaid.com/), and Linda Woods from OPM leader Partnercentric (www.partnercentric.com).
I am very proud of how the panel turned out – the speakers were outstanding – I’m confident everyone in attendance (over 100 people) found the speakers informative and the time well spent.
After my presentation I did a radio show with Linda Woods who is the host of “Affiliate Marketing Insider” on WebmasterRadio – Gary and Brad also joined Linda and I for the show. We chatted for about 1 hour on issues ranging from the impact of the economy on affiliate marketing to new opps for 2009 in terms of making more money in affiliate marketing. I believe the show will be posted within the next few days @ http://www.webmasterradio.fm/Affiliate-Marketing/Affiliate-Marketing-Insider/
I met with a few partners and existing clients at the RIO bar and Team Pepperjam went over to the Digital River One Network bowling party around 6ish. It was a great party – I ran into one of Pepperjam’s premier outsourced affiliate program management partners – VastPlanet – and had a few minutes to chat with their CEO Michel Vorel (a very, very bright guy!). Thanks to Kevin, Sean, Matt and the gang at DR for the party!
After the DR party we took a bus bout 20 minutes or so off the strip to the Red Rock mansion – the party was thrown by our friend Jon Fisher from WickedFire, along with AdValiant and a few other companies. The party was amazing – I met a lot of new affiliates and even was introduced and chatted with one of the cofounders of PayPal. Other than the fact the alcohol ran out early the party was really fun.
After the WickedFire party we can back to the RIO and attended Brian Littleton’s 80’s themed Under the Stars party – we caught the end of the party but there were still at least 100 people still there. People were on the dance floor as if they were Patrick Swayze or John Travolta, including Revenews editor-in-chief Angel Djambazov who was dressed in an Iron Maiden t-shirt. Great party!
I closed the night watching Ken, Trevor, Maura, and Brock win a ton of money on the craps table – it was brilliant! Trevor honestly rolled for two hours straight – he couldn’t lose.
Got a half decent night sleep and I’m heading down to the exhibit booth to join the rest of the gang.
Out from Vegas.
