Welcome to Week #26 of the Pepperjam Network “Meet the Affiliates” Interview Series!
This week I interview blogger, super affiliate, and internet marketing coach Jim Kukral.
Read on to learn more about Jim…
Here are the rules…
The Pepperjam Network “Meet the Affiliates” Interview Series will feature an original up-close interview with an affiliate marketer every Friday. Priority will be given to Pepperjam Network affiliates, but that is not a requirement to share your story. If you’d be interested in being interviewed please submit your request here – please make sure to tell us why you think your story is especially entertaining or educational and worth sharing with our readers.
As the series progresses we will do our best to ask questions that both entertain and educate! We encourage you to comment on each of the interviews, as well as ask follow-up questions of the interviewee.
Lastly, if you are a blogger or just someone with a network of likeminded affiliate marketing friends, we encourage you to share our interviews series with anyone who you think may benefit. Also, since you won’t want to miss an interview once it’s published I encourage you to join the Feedburner Pepperjam Network RSS Feed, which is located at the top of this page or by clicking here.
Well…let’s get on to the interview!
Meet the Affiliates: Interview #26

Question #1
KRIS: Where do you live? Are you married? Any children? Animals?
JIM: I live in beautiful Cleveland Ohio overlooking the southern shores of Lake Erie. I have an amazing wife with two great kids and dog named Bella. We have deer in our backyard everyday if that counts as animals.
Question #2
KRIS: When did you first get involved in affiliate marketing? Please share your story…
JIM: In 1999 I registered a domain called Iquit.org. The intent was to put up free resignation letters for people to use. The one day I realized that I could put up some links to Amazon products and make money. Wow. When I got my first check I was blown away. Then I began to investigate it more and the race was on!
Question #3
KRIS: You seem to be someone who has the ability to continuously innovate. For instance, one of your most recent innovations was ScratchBack (http://www.scratchback.com/). Please share with us how you got the idea for ScratchBack and what exactly the product does in terms of its benefits…
JIM: It’s funny, I bought the scratchback.com domain about 2-years prior to using it. I guess I must have had the idea in my head unformed early. I had been unimpressed with boring tip jars on blogs, and I knew there could be a better way. I also knew that creating another text link selling service was not something the world needed another of. So I made scratchback for those long-tail bloggers who don’t have enough traffic to make money with Adsense of cpm ads, but do have an avid reader base who are willing to give tips.
Question #4
KRIS: Your newest project and “nickname” is “The Business Web Coach.” Please tell us more about “The Business Web Coach?” What’s different about TBWC than other similar services on the market?
JIM: TheBizWebCoach.com (www.thebizwebcoach.com) is really what I’m all about. I love to teach people. I love to help businesses and brands find success online. So why not do it in a membership program where people can learn from me all the time. Not everyone can afford an expensive consultant. The way I look at it, if you can give me 10 minutes of your time every week, then I can help you find more success online.
Question #5
KRIS: You have a very large blog readership. Please share with our readers your top 5 tips for being a successful blogger and building readership…
JIM:
1. Consistency of quality of content.
2. Solve problems
3. Entertain, if you can
4. Have fun
5. Did I say solve problems for your readers? Yes, I did.
Question #6
KRIS: You’ve been the MC at Affiliate Summit for the last several shows. Please tell us more about the Affiliate Summit, including why you think affiliate marketers and advertisers should attend the show…
JIM: Of course, I’m biased, but I think you’ll agree, that the Affiliate Summit is THE best show in the industry because of the content, and the attendees. Frankly, affiliate marketers are the grand wizards of revenue because we do it all. Not just search, not just email, not just PPC. We do it all, and we do it well. That makes the Affiliate Summit the best place to be if you want to be surrounded by people who actually make money online… not just talk about it.
Question #7
KRIS: If you could trade shows with anyone for three-months who would it be and why?
JIM: I love Donny Deutch, but he just got cancelled. I’m thinking of doing a Web version of his show.
Question #8
KRIS: What’s the best piece of money making advice you’ve ever received?
JIM: Overdeliver. Give everything you have, then give more. It comes back 100 times.
Question #9
KRIS: Please take us through a day-in-the-life of Jim Kukral…
JIM: I’m embarassed to say I don’t get up until after 8. Ok, I stay up past 2am working. After a shower/shave, I take my daughter to school and go immediately to my office in Downtown Cleveland. My day is spent sitting at the desk, all day, working, podcasting, doing interviews, etc… I spend lots of time doing audio podcasts and shows. At about 6 I head home, have dinner with the family, hang out, put the kids to bed then work for another 5-6 hours. Whew.
Question #10
KRIS: In 250 words or less what is the future of affiliate marketing?
JIM: I’m a huge believer that mobile is going to take over the world. I believe my children will live in that world, where their iphone/google phone, whatever, device will be there single point of communication. I don’t think they’ll have “pcs” like we do now. I can see offers being delivered via phone instantly based on GPS location and demographic profiles. But, that’s a long way away. Right now, I think the communities are still the way to go.
Question #11
KRIS: How can our readers connect with Jim Kukral? (here’s an opp to share your Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn hangers if you wish.
JIM: I’m easy to get ahold of at www.connectwithjim.com where you can find all of my information on how to reach me.
